From there, we dive into the magic of motion – learning fundamentals like timing and storyboarding to make animations feel natural and intentional.
As you grow, you’ll move beyond simple loops to create rich, dynamic scenes. Before we move, we must learn to play. This chapter is designed to take the "scary" out of starting by helping you set up your digital workspace and find a creative mindset that chooses joy over perfection.
Through a series of exercises, I’ll guide you step-by-step through the basics of digital illustration. You’ll practice refining your line work and exploring different shapes until you find a drawing style that feels like you.Â
CHARACTERS
&Â FIRST MOTIONS
We’ll dive into the heart of your stories by designing characters full of personality and expression.
Once your character is ready, we’ll take our first steps into motion. You’ll learn the "secret sauce" of animation, the core fundamentals, through simple exercises. We’ll practice storyboarding your ideas and mastering the timing of a movement, so your very first animations feel natural and intentional.
MORE ADVANCED TECHNIQUES
As you grow more confident, we’ll explore the magic of complex movements, from animating a character’s walk to mastering the art of the turn.
I’ll guide you through more intricate techniques like maintaining shape consistency and adding advanced motion details that make your animations feel truly polished and professional.
